The Hive JQ

The Hive is a community hub for Birmingham in an historic building, with an award-winning organic café and bakery, craft workshops, exhibitions and event spaces.

The Machinery is an immersive audio-visual installation capturing the earliest known machine dance.

The dance performed by Caroline Radcliffe and captured by filmmaker Jon Harrison is augmented with the sounds and movements of the Industrial Revolution’s textile industries by composer and digital artist Sarah Angliss, evoking the working conditions of the 19th century factory worker with those of the 21st century call centre worker.

Join Caroline for this special one-off event - in a group clog dance. Caroline will discuss the meaning behind the steps performed in the installation, and recreate the movements for you to join in.

Book your FREE timed ticket from Eventbrite through the link below.

Tickets are limited to 40 people to support social distancing.

Please note sections this event will be recorded - if you do not wish to be included in the film, please contact, [email protected]
