As part of our Hidden Histories exhibition programme at The Hive, we are exploring historical and contemporary attitudes towards disability for a new exhibition from March 2020. We are inviting members of the D/deaf, blind, visually impaired and disabled community to join us at FREE workshops throughout October 2019. The work created by participants will also be part of the final exhibition. Workshops with Fae Fae Kilburn is a Birmingham-based partially sighted Printmaker and fine artist. She specialises in traditional printmaking techniques, and exhibits nationally and internationally. Her recent work is a series on mono print portraits exploring family, disability and identity. Whilst creating this work a softer colour pallet and new style has emerged. www.faekilburn.co.uk 4th October, 10.30am-1pm: Collagraph printing (Part 1) Create a collagraph out of recycled materials 11th October, 10.30am-1pm: Collagraph printing (Part 2) Learn different ways to print with your collagraph. Also create embossed plaster cast tiles, using flowers and found objects 25th October, 10.30am-1pm: Copper and silver embossing. Make beautiful embossed designs Workshops with Olivier Olivier Jamin is a Contemporary Artist, who has been Deaf since birth. He specialises in hand drawn multicoloured art using stencils, graffiti and digital art The aim is to produce work that combines the effect of colours and patterns and raises people's imaginations and awareness www.ojart.net 8th, 15th and 22nd October, 1pm-3pm: Hand drawing and mixed-media creations.
