TEENAGE SKILL UP is a series of new workshops which aims to give young people direct access to some of the great international artists appearing in the festival.

Young people are choosing to rise up and take action where older generations have failed.

During this day long workshop you will work with solar panel artist Chloe Uden and master glass craftsman Ian Hankey to make a solar artwork on the theme of Extinction Rebellion.

This workshop is subsidised for teenagers only.

During this day long workshop you will collaborate to

  • Learn the basics of solar energy
  • Etch glass using chemical etching
  • Tab up solar cells
  • Solder and connect the electrics
  • Explore and tell stories about activism in the climate emergency
  • Prepare an audio piece to be ‘played’ by the final artwork

The solar panel artwork we produce will be displayed throughout the rest of the festival. You can collect your artwork at the end of the festival to take home.

£30 each towards the cost of materials. Maximum of 10 in the class.

This workshop has been generously sponsored by Mark Holford

Chloe Uden is a solar panel artist based in the UK. She is the founder of the collective Art and Energy CIC which is a group of artists that work to use their skills to respond to the climate emergency.

Chloe’s work seeks to explore, celebrate and play with the energy systems that connect us.

Art and Energy have reimagined solar panels as a new craft material, and their beautiful artworks generate green electricity for special places. www.artandenergy.org
