The British Glass Biennale is the foremost juried exhibition of excellence in contemporary glass by British artists, designers and craftspeople in the UK. With at least 80 major new glass works selected every two years, the British Glass Biennale is the flagship exhibition within the International Festival of Glass and attracts collectors, galleries and museums from around the world.
The British Glass Biennale is open to artists, designers, craftspeople and students working in all areas of contemporary glass practice or using glass as a key design element. The emphasis is on new work demonstrating the highest level of excellence in design, creative imagination and technical skill.
Prizes: British Glass Biennale Best in Show, The Glass Sellers Main and Student Awards, The Glass Arts Society (GAS) International Artists’ Prize, Guild of Glass Engravers Prize, Glass Society Best Newcomer Award, Glass Society ‘Uniting the Planet’ Themed Prize, The People’s Prize sponsored by Warm Glass, Young Collectors’ Award also sponsored by The Glass Sellers.
Open to artists, designers, craftspeople and students of all nationalities worldwide who create beads where glass is the key design element. We welcome all glassmaking techniques as long as the piece conforms to the concept of a bead. Max bead size 10cm x 8cm.

For both of these prestigious exhibitions the emphasis is on new work demonstrating the highest level of excellence in design, creative imagination and technical skill. Each exhibition will be selected by separate expert juries in March 2022.

The 2017 exhibition featured work by 63 contemporary artists, including British makers living and working abroad for the first time. Since its inception in 2004 the Biennale has awarded £100,000 worth of prizes to artists. Read more
