Butcher Works Gallery also sells the Freeman College student line including hand-made Whittle-Tang knives and cast pewter Christmas decorations. Students make this beautiful work in the college's traditional metal and jewellery workshops where they learn many essential aspects of craft and commerce.

In addition to showcasing student work the Gallery is a centre for a vibrant network of artists, craftspeople and industries working with metal. Building on these connections our programme also focuses the links between traditional craft skills and advanced engineering. Exhibitions are accompanied by participatory events, activities and open days to introduce audiences to local and international arts.

Through this the Gallery makes an invaluable addition to celebrating Sheffield’s place as a leading centre of past, present and future design and a cradle of global innovation. Recent highlights include the Enamoured national showcase of leading enamelling work from the British Society of Enamellers and Aesthetics of Manufacture, part of Sheffield’s Year of Making.

Butcher Works Gallery is available for hire and can also provide bespoke craft events and workshops to meet your requirements.
