The Hive JQ

The Hive is a community hub for Birmingham in an historic building, with an award-winning organic café and bakery, craft workshops, exhibitions and event spaces.

At the Hive we have an award-winning organic café & bakery that makes 100% of our food fresh. The food we serve is healthy, affordable and 100% vegetarian. Vegan options are also available.

We make every dish by hand and we change our menu every day.  There is no set cuisine, it is inspired by the produce in season. We get some supplied produce from our very own rooftop garden & micro-farm. It's wonderful being able to pick your own vegetables and herbs and look at the Jewellery Quarter skyline as you do so!

We also have a selection of freshly made bread and cakes to buy daily from our in-house bakery, from sourdough loafs to baguettes.

We also offer work experiences and training opportunities to young people with learning differences and complex needs at Argent College which is located on the upper floors of our building.

Keeping each other safe at The Hive

We have made some important changes to the way we usually operate and have put measures in place to keep our customers and staff safe, giving us the best chance of preventing the spread of COVID-19.

General - all customers and visitors

  • We ask all our customers and visitors to sanitise their hands on arrival and after using the toilets. We provide sanitising stations around The Hive.
  • Card payment only please.
  • We have increased the frequency of cleaning public areas, door handles, touch points and toilets where the virus may spread.
  • We ask all our customers to wear a mask or face covering while they are in our building, UNLESS they have an exemption or are eating and drinking in one of our seating areas. This includes wearing a face covering whilst queuing and ordering food. Our staff will be wearing face coverings too.
  • If you are using our toilets, please note, we operate a one way system  on entry and exit to ensure we maintain social distancing. Bit of a detour, but you will get to see some of our exhibitions spaces on the way!
