As the evenings grow darker much earlier now, this month's theme is LIGHT!

10am-4pm Free family craft activity session

Families can have fun with us all day making paper lanterns and candleholders.

Just drop-in. Last entry 3.30pm. 'Pay as you feel' for craft materials.

10am-4pm Explore & relax

Hive Cafe & Bakery open for drinks (but no fancy coffee machine) and cake. Explore our heritage exhibitions & discover the history of our building. Just drop in. Last entry 3.30pm. Free entry to exhibitions.

11.30am & 1.30pm Guided building tours (45 mins)

Explore all four storeys of our Grade II listed building; from derelict basement to inspiring rooftop urban micro-farm.

11am-1pm Monoprinting (Two-hour Taster Workshop)

Join Fae in the Makers Studio for a monoprinting workshop. Working with the theme of ‘Light’ you will learn different Monoprint techniques, including experimenting with different materials to create embossed prints. Learn how to use a printing press and prepare your paper and inks. You will leave with a selection of prints.

All material and equipment are provided but if there is something that you would like to bring we will do our best to incorporate it.
Please feel free to bring reference material or just come with enthusiasm.

About Fae 

Fae Kilburn is a Birmingham-based printmaker specialising in traditional printing techniques such as lino cut, wood cut, monoprints and collographs.Her work is inspired by many things; nature, her love of history and personal experiences. Fae regularly exhibits her work in galleries.

12.30 - 2.30pm The Art of Metal Colour Light Therapy

Liri Filippini's talk and workshop will explore Metal Colour Light therapy - a new form of Anthroposophical colour light therapy that Ruskin Mill Trust is introducing across various colleges and schools.

Participants will delve into how healing is achieved through colour, releasing blocked emotions and promoting wellbeing.

2pm- 4pm Candle-making (Two-hour Taster Workshop)

Join Beth Wilkinson in The Makers Studio for a candle-making experience; create your own candles from scratch, starting with nature's own beeswax. In this workshop you'll be using different techniques and a range of colours to create dipping and marble jar candles.

About Beth

Beth Wilkinson completed a BA hons in Fine Art at Margaret Street, Birmingham in 2001, since then she developed her practical and creative skills to become an experienced tutor in various settings, with a focus on using art towards positive personal Well-being.

Beth has worked part time at Argent College for over three years and during this time has developed a passion for exploring traditional techniques within candle making such as dipping, with an emphasis on environmentally kind materials such as beeswax and other natural waxes.
