title craft campaign

In 2019 we’ll be welcoming the first Jewellery Quarter bees into hives in our rooftop garden at New Standard Works - and we wanted to give them a big welcome! So, we launched a craft campaign to raise awareness #JQBeesAreComing

There are 20,000 species of bees in the world; including 270 species in the UK?

We love the fact that every one of the 1000 bees stitched during the project will be unique, just like its stitcher!

Former occupants of the New Standard Works factory, dating back to 1879, include; jewellers, silversmiths and industrial innovators who migrated from Canada, Moldova, Poland, Germany and from across the UK to set up their businesses in a thriving industrial city.

Where will all our tapestry bees come from? We can’t wait to find out!

The final artwork will be on display at The Hive in the Jewellery Quarter from July 2019. Participants are invited to come to the launch day and celebration event on Saturday 29 June, anytime between 10am & 4pm. Bring family and friends!
